Rock the night away

One of the most important key features to having a successful outdoor space where people can gather and spend time together is seating.  If you don’t have a place for your guests to sit, you won’t have many more guests.  Let’s just eliminate that horrifying possibility right now and provide some great seating choices that everyone can enjoy.

As you probably guessed based on the title, I am  promoting rockers here.  Why?  Because they’re a classic, that’s why.  I mean, rocking chairs are to outdoor seating as baseball is to the American public.  They just go together.

Rocking chairs are so classic that they have come to represent many different genres of people and society.  When I first think of a rocking chair, I pretty much imagine the picture that is shown on Wikipedia’s page for “Rocking Chair” with an old man/woman sitting in it on/near the porch just rocking away.

I then imagine a family vacation we took to West Virginia were we stayed in a cabin in a State Park and how I sat in a double rocking chair with my granddaddy.  Then I imagine his old rocking chair in our basement.  That leads to the thought of the rows and rows of rockers lined up in front of every Cracker Barrel you’ll go to.

Other images that come to mind include squeaking floorboards in an old haunted house with voices and empty chairs rocking back and forth.  In a completely different direction is the picture of a parent rocking their little baby to sleep.

Or there is a more beachy-type that often comes to mind.  The type that just seems to fit in with the sand and the water in the background.

Obviously rocking chairs present many different images, and I’m sure you all have came up with ones other than what I mentioned.  Like I said, they’re classic, in many different ways.

Whatever image comes to mind when you hear the words rocking chair, you know what I’m talking about.  Experience one for yourself, let whatever guests you have left try one out, get one for decoration.  The reason doesn’t matter as much as the fact that you have one or not.

Let there be light!

As I’m sure all of you know, during the lovely summer months, you want to spend time outside for as long as possibly possible.  And, as much fun as it is to be outside late at night, it’s also fun to be able to see!  I get if you’re camping or being outdoorsy then you’ll have a campfire, which I will totally talk about later, but for now let’s just say you’re on your deck and you want to be able to see the people you’re hanging out with.  I mean, call me crazy but that can sometimes be nice.  So.  Now is the fun part- you get to decide what you’re into!

If you Have Awesome Night Vision, then I would suggest checking out our numerous Low Voltage Lights.

If you’re a Tree-Hugger Green Lover definitely go with Solar Lights.  Whether it be Stake Lights, Spot Lights, Deck Lighting, Figurine Lighting, or Solar Urn Lighting, you will have no problem finding the right solar light for you.  We even have Decorative Solar Lighting so if you like solar lights, and you prefer them to have decor, check them out.

If you’re Awesome, you might like Gel Flame Torches and Bowls!  You really just have to take a look and see for yourself with this one.

If you like something with a bit more Natural Life to it, go for the Patio Torches!  They are essentially tiki torches and therefore include fire in their lighting.

If you are Someone Who Doesn’t Know What They Like or Never Can Make Up Their Mind, then check out all of our outdoor lights and see what catches your eye!

Outdoor Wall Art

It’s possible that some of you did not know that Yardlover.com has tons of  paintings meant to be used outside.  I didn’t even know about them until I stumbled across them just a few days ago.  And let me just say, some of them are really pretty!  It was really quite a shock to find all of those paintings on our site because I just didn’t expect it.  I recommend that you just take a look around and see if anything catches your eye.  I bet at least one will.

The thing about these paintings though, is that they’re not really paintings.  They are specially made to look like paintings, but in fact the images are generated from high resolution digital photographs and printed onto the canvas to give the allusion of an original painting.  The canvases are treated front and back with UV lacquer to help the image keep its amazing and vivid color.  The prints are 100% waterproof and the staples are stainless steel, meaning they will not rust.  The canvas is stretched around a 1.5″ poly-vinyl bar made to withstand the outdoor elements.  Last but not least, the specialty made mounting hardware ensures that the “painting” will stay right where it is in up to 60 mph winds (anything higher than that, you probably want to move it indoors).  Just to make these images even better, a 2-year guarantee against peeling, running, or fading is included.

For those of you who don’t live on the edge or enjoy getting caught up in the wild world of outdoor decor, these “paintings” can also be used indoors.  But where’s the fun in that?

Take a look and see if there’s anything that floats your boat:

*Just a bit of extra information:  these “paintings” are actually a lot bigger than they appear.  They are all 30″ x 40″ x 1.5″ so don’t go in thinking that you are getting a little painting you can hang in that little corner of your house between the window and the door (unless of course it will actually fit there) because they are bigger than they seem.  Just sayin’.

Patio Misting Systems

It’s summer.  And what do you like to do in summer?  Be lazy.  Be outside.  Be lazy outside.  I mean really, who doesn’t just lounge around during the summer months, whether by a pool or on a deck or under the trees?  Just about everybody does it at some point and the key to mastering that feeling of calmness as you enjoy the great outdoors is to not be overheated.  If it is hot and humid and you are sweating or just uncomfortable, well no one really wants to or picture anyone else sweating like a pig.  So avoid it all together.  With a Misty Mate Patio Misting System.

As part of Patio Mania 2011, I would strongly suggest you get your misting system before it’s too late!  There are several different sizes that you can choose from to fit the size of your outdoor area.  They are perfect for decks, patios, and poolside spaces.  All you do is install the system around the perimeter of your space and sit back and relax as a nice gentle mist falls all around you, keeping you cool and comfortable, as well as making your place the place to be (at least during the summer).

I really just don’t see any reason for you not to get a misting system.  Who doesn’t like to be constantly sprayed with a fine stream of water that will keep you cool and make you look awesome?  It just works.
