Video Monday: Flamingos
So it’s Monday. Yay! I have decided that starting today, every Monday will be Video Monday, where I will basically choose from our videos and pick one of my favorites and simply post that video. I hope you enjoy this!
I’ll start you off with something fun for now, like pink flamingos!
Seed Starting Pt. 3
The last and final step is optional:
If you want to get a little more technical, try a complete greenhouse system. With a Jiffy Greenhouse, all you do is put your seeds in the Jiffy pellets, and then water and put the greenhouse dome on. You could also try a Hot House Growing System. It provides heat with a heat mat, seedling starter pellets, and a greenhouse lid to trap in heat and moisture.
I hope these posts helped to give you some seed starting ideas, and now I hope you will go out there and grow some plants!
Seed Starting Pt. 2
The next step in growing your seeds is obtaining a heat source. Whether it is a heat mat, that you place under the plants, like an Indoor Propagation Super Gro Mat, or a Grow Light that you put up over the plants to provide a concentrated light directly to the plants.
Here are a couple videos to help you get started with choosing the right heat source:
Seed Starting Pt. 1
I have found that I really enjoy plants, but more than just buying a plant, I like to plant the seeds and watch them grow. It can bring great satisfaction to one who can plant something and grow it until it is ready to eat or blooms into a beautiful flower. There are a couple different components to starting seeds at home:
1st: You need to pick your seeds! You can choose to grow flowers, vegetables, herbs, and even organic seeds!
2nd: You need the container that you will be putting the seeds in. It can be as simple as Grower Pots or a Cow Pot, which is made with 100% composted cow manure.
That will get you started with planting your seeds, but make sure to check back soon for the next steps in growing your plants!
Rain Chains and Rain Cups
It has been raining here lately, and along with all of the recent snow melting, there has been quite a lot of water. Water in lawns, in rivers, and even running off of houses. If you live an in area where it rains frequently, a pretty alternative to a rain gutter is a rain chain or rain cup. They are decorative pieces linked together that the rain will flow down, creating the relaxing sound of running water. There are different styles such as rain cups in the shape of bluebells, tulips, and even umbrellas! You can even add a Rain Basin to the end of your Rain Chain to catch the water. Choose your style, and then listen to the pleasant sound of the rain!
Wind Chimes
One of my favorite things about summer are the days when you can relax outside on your deck in the sun, and there is just a slight breeze. It is always so peaceful and relaxing, I just love it. In my backyard we have a whole collection of wind chimes scattered around the yard. There are metal ones, wooden ones, and a combination of both. There are standard designs, wind chimes with boats or golfers on top, and even ones that are fourteen feet tall! I love all wind chimes, no matter what they are made of or what they look like. They all make beautiful sounds that can bring life to any backyard or front porch.
Forest Faces
People love trees. What’s not to love? They give you shade, provide places to build tree houses, and can have fruit or pretty flowers. One way to really customize your favorite tree and give it a personality is to give it a Forest Face. All you have to do is put up a couple nails and hang the eyes, nose, and mouth on them. There are several different faces, either smiling, sleeping, or looking surprised, and they all will add fun to your backyard! There are even sports themed faces for your favorite college sports team! Add some emotion to your trees and give them a face! It’s fun, and nothing beats watching your guest do a double take and ask you if that tree has a face!
